About Us

Morgan County System of Services (SOS) was established in May 2002.  It was created in response to a need identified by Morgan County's juvenile court judges, probation officers, and the Children's Policy Council to reduce the number of juveniles committed to State institutions each year.  Since SOS's services began, the number of State commitments have dropped from a high of 104 in 1994 to 16 in 2013.

We are a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization with an array of individualized services for youth and their families.  We are licensed by the Alabama Department of Youth Services and the majority of our clients are ordered by the Morgan County Juvenile Court.  However, SOS offers services to at-risk youth referred by other community agencies as well.  We also accept a limited number of walk-in clients who fit the agency's criteria for services.
